A Decade of Cultural Harmony: DAV Hosts 10th Indo-Japanese Exchange
DAV Public School, Sreshtha Vihar, celebrated a landmark event as it hosted the tenth edition of the International Exchange Programme with Nishiyamato Gakuen Junior High School Nara, Japan. The day marked a decade of friendship, learning and cultural collaboration, reaffirming the schools’ shared vision of nurturing global understanding and mutual respect.
The celebration began with a warm welcome address by Principal Mrs. Suhasini K. Nath, who reflected on the historical and contemporary ties between India and Japan—from their shared Buddhist heritage and ancient Silk Road exchanges to modern partnerships in technology and sustainable development. Emphasizing the importance of cultural understanding and peace, she warmly welcomed Mr. Michihiro Takasaki, Head of Department at Nishiyamato Gakuen, along with the visiting faculty and students. In his address, Mr. Takasaki expressed heartfelt gratitude for the warmth and hospitality extended by DAV and commended the enriching experiences his students had.
In a touching moment of goodwill, souvenirs were exchanged between the heads of both schools, symbolizing appreciation and continuity of the bond. The event then transitioned into ‘Mélange’, a vibrant festival of Indian art and culture that transformed the school grounds into a lively hub of creativity. The Japanese students enthusiastically participated in various activities—folk dances, math-based musical chairs, quizzes, and interactive exhibits celebrating India’s intellectual legacy. They engaged in hands-on experiences like pottery, Rangoli, Mehendi, and collaborative art, discovering the joy of learning through creation and interaction. The buddy system, pairing students from both schools, encouraged deep interaction and understanding.
Such exchange programmes foster global understanding and mutual respect, helping students appreciate cultural diversity and grow as empathetic, responsible global citizens.
